Monastery and chapel
Monastery and chapel
The Benedictine Monastery at Arcadia, was built in stages between 1962 and 1980. The chapel includes some important stained glass windows including the ‘Dunbar windows’ from the original St Mary’s cathedral, commemorating three of those drowned in the wreck of the Dunbar in 1857. For musicians – there is the 1893 Atterton tracker organ in a richly carved English oak case. For artists – Sixteen paintings of the life of Christ titled Kerygma (the proclamation of a religious truth), work of Terence O’Donnell.

Amazing prayerful adventures are waiting for you.
